Yoga can be a wonderful activity for girls with Down syndrome, offering a multitude of benefits for both their physical and mental well-being. Yoga helps improve muscle tone and flexibility, which is particularly beneficial as individuals with Down syndrome often experience low muscle tone (hypotonia). It also enhances balance and coordination, leading to increased confidence in movement and daily activities. Additionally, the calming and mindful nature of yoga can help reduce anxiety and stress, while promoting self-awareness and body positivity. Through yoga, girls with Down syndrome can develop strength, flexibility, and a deeper connection with their bodies, all while having fun and building self-esteem.
